What We Treat

Women’s Health

“I had a ‘Mummy MOT’ following a C-section. I feel much stronger in my core/pelvic floor and have already noticed a huge difference by following the advice and action plan RISE put in place for me. I think it’s so worth doing for any woman who is in the postpartum period.”

What To Expect:

Women's Health Initial Assessment (60mins) An initial women's health assessment will last approximately 60 minutes, beginning with a discussion about your concerns, symptoms, and medical history. This will be followed by a comprehensive physical examination to guide the development of a bespoke treatment plan to help you in your recovery.

Women's Health Follow Up Appointment (45 mins) A follow up women's health appointment will last approximately 45 minutes, and may involve hands on treatment, along with bespoke exercise prescription and advice to help you in your recovery.

Physiotherapy
(The MummyMOT)

Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth. This can cause instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.

A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and caesarean deliveries. It will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and abdominal muscles are recovering after birth. And if they’re not, then we can provide you with exercises and treatment to help in your recovery and to return to exercise safely.

What To Expect:

Mummy MOT Initial Assessment (90mins) It’s recommended that women have an initial assessment at 6-8 weeks postnatal, but we also treat women who gave birth years ago that may still have related abdominal or pelvic floor muscle issues.

Women's Health Follow Up Appointment (45mins) A follow up women's health appointment will last approximately 45 minutes, and may involve hands on treatment, along with bespoke exercise prescription and advice to help you in your recovery.
